What is Gout?

It is the most usual type of “inflammatory arthritis” associated with excess uric acid in men. Excess uric acid in your blood stream produced urate crystals in your joints and they gradually begin to harm the tissues at the site of inflammation and become extremely painful.

Gout attacks men more in comparison with women, women are at high risk of developing it after menopause. Gout attacks are very severe and sudden, causing redness, tenderness, hot and swollen joints. These are frequent and are reoccur over time. The joint at the base of the big toe is affected in about half of cases.

Types of Gout

Here are few stages of gout which are referred to as the following types:

Asymptomatic hyperuricemia

A person can have excess uric acid level without any symptoms. At this level “urate crystals” develops and causes tissue damage.

Acute gout

The crystals deposited in the tissue now begin to cause inflammation and pain. This acute gout attack stage is termed as a flare. Flare remains from 3-10 days and is usually triggered by stress.

Interval gout

This is the time between acute gout attacks. If flares are left untreated at this level it can become more severe and come more frequently.

Chronic Tophaceous gout

It is the most disabled type of gout. This type of joint may lead to permanent damage of kidneys, joints etc. Urate crystals develop in the cooler regions of the body.

Pseudo gout

The signs and symptoms of pseudo gout are very similar to that of the gout. Although the flares at this stage are usually less painful. In this case calcium pyrophosphate crystals are formed.

     Gout Treatment

Gout is often treated with medication in order to lower associated symptoms and to keep this disease from returning. To do this, it is advised by doctors to continue taking low doses of these medications over the long-term. This rarely leads to side effects, however people with chronic kidney diseases are at high risk. Laser therapy provides pain relief from gout symptoms over the long-term without the need of medication.

Laser therapy has been widely researched and has been shown in literature to have immediate gout pain relief, as well as medium and long-term pain relief for acute and chronic gout.

Laser therapy has been shown to increase cellular metabolism of the patient, which promotes the healing process of the targeted area. Laser therapy has also been shown to interact with the nerves of the targeted site in a way which reduces pain experienced. This interaction also releases endorphins which reduces the painful sensations at the site. These interactions have a combined effect that result in pain relief starting from minutes after the treatment to long-term pain relief.

Our technology is equipped with providing pain relief for many complex medical disorders. The treatments are non-invasive, the procedure is painless and you do not experience any side effects.
